here’s one for the heart

Not only has Sarah Palin won over the hearts and minds of her largely evangelical christian fanbase, she has also been reaching out to a separate group entirely recently.

On Tuesday, MSNBC ran an interview with Palin about her connections to families with special needs children or relatives. The report, on an arguably very touchy subject paints Palin in a very positive light. She is shown speaking about when she learned her son Trig would have special needs at a rally, cutting a ribbon on a group home for adults with Down Syndrome and taking photos with special needs kids.

Many people are apparently attending Palin’s rallies now, based on her connection with special needs children alone. They see it as something that goes beyond politics. The MSNBC report did a good job of staying neutral in the piece, sticking to the topic and not going into detail of what many would consider Palin’s darker side. Even so, it’s hard to forget how she’s acted recently at rallies and interviews across the country.
